What is Ayurveda, and how can it transform your health?
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine dating back over 5000 years. It literally translates to "life wisdom" or the science of life.
Treating an individual holistically: honoring mind, body, and spirit. Ayurveda always favors natural, seasonal, and mindful healing over pharmaceuticals, trendy diets, or quick fixes.
Ayurveda uses food and lifestyle as primary medicines. It focuses on enhancing and supporting our digestive fire or gut health (agni), and burning or eliminating toxic metabolic waste (ama) from the body. Utilizing treatments such as nutritional therapies, herbal medicine, yoga, mediation, internal and external oiling of the body, and mama point therapy (light pressure applied to specific energy centers of the body). Ayurveda naturally restores optimal health and balance.
Ayurveda is akin to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in that it is an elemental system of healing. It treats "dosha" or an individual’s unique constitution based on the panch mahabhutas or 5 Great Elements. Our system acknowledges a patient's original constitution or genetic code (prakruti), as well as the current state of imbalance of doshas (vikruti). Also looking to thermogenics (heating versus cooling), restoring equilibrium of temperatures, in order to restore digestive and hormonal balance to body systems.
An Ayurvedic consult begins with a thorough health history of a new client. Then, we employ Ayurvedic assessments of the tongue, eyes, and pulse in order to establish dosha and determine where imbalances lie. This in-depth process allows us to craft a specialized nutrition, herbal/supplement, and lifestyle plan to address an individual's unique health challenges and goals. We treat current imbalances in order to restore you to your original, balanced state: healthy, happy, vital, and energetic!
